Whether you’re facing financial hardship, struggling with housing, need food assistance, or looking for emotional and spiritual support — many churches across the country are stepping up to help.

is a place of worship and folks gather at churches not just for worship but help as well. As I was working as pastor and I observed people’s gathering at church in times of worship, uncertainty and hardship. Churches help people in a lot of ways both spiritually and practically.

Firstly, Churches provide a spiritual support and inspire people to connect with their faith and God. Spiritual support and development include worship and prayer services, pastoral care and religious education.

Secondly, Churches help grow community support through their community outreach program. This church help program fosters a better and progressive community. Such community support programs include free food give away, free clothes, housing assistance, and emergency help.

Such church helps are details here-
  • Financial Aid: Even different people have different types of needs and churches may not have specific program to meet their needs. For this, churches often offer financial assistance to meet their needs.
  • Food: Many churches collect donation for food distribution through local food bank, food pantry and also offer financial assistance for grocery purchase. Additionally, churches also send food boxes for those who can’t make or buy meals.
  • Clothing banks: As part of community support, churches collect donation, used, gently used or new clothes from donors to give away to the low-income individuals. They have clothing ministry that runs clothing banks, thrift stores and clothing closet.
  • Housing Assistance: Churches help those who don’t afford to pay house rent and it is a crucial issue for those people. Churches offer direct financial assistance for housing assistance or pay to the landlords on behalf of the eligible people.
  • Homeless shelter: In time of homelessness, churches have different program to help homeless people. Churches have homeless shelter where homeless people are accommodated for safe shelter and stay.
  • Voucher for motel or hotel:  Churches often provide Vouchers for motel or hotel stay for short time to make sure homeless people can be shifted to permanent housing. Motel or hotel voucher helps homeless people stay safe and secured.
  • Transportation: Transportation is a vital aspect of our life and churches also help with transportation support. To make transportation more accessible and safer, churches offer car payment assistance, bus tickets, ride share and travel as well. In some cases, churches donate free cars to the most disadvantaged people.
  • Volunteering collaboration: People don’t need financial assistance in some cases but they need immediate collaboration. Part of this, churches provide volunteer work for yard work help for seniors, legal aid for low-income individuals.
  • Educational support: some churches believe that training and counselling may work better than any other direct help. Part of this, churches provide career building training, counselling for financial matters, and legal advice as well.
